Automotive "Under the Hood" Label Materials
Heat Resistant Aluminum and Polyimide Label Material for Automotive Part Identification

Automotive labeling applications can be a tricky business. Finding the right durable label material that can withstand the extreme heat encountered under the hood of your car and also perform when exposed to harsh chemicals such as: gasoline, motor oil, anti-freeze is a challenging process. Polyonics' research and development team has designed two label materials that will provide extra durability where polyester labels fail.
The XF-592 is a polyimide film with a high temperature aggressive acrylic adhesive and a high opacity white topcoat designed for barcode or alphanumeric identification. The aggressive pressure sensitive adhesive on this product is specifically designed to adhere to rough surfaces (i.e., engine blocks) where high temperatures occur.
The XF-807 is an aluminum label material with a permanent pressure sensitive, ultra-high-temperature acrylic adhesive and a high opacity, white topcoat specifically designed for thermal transfer printing. The aluminum face sheet provides excellent temperature and impact resistance over polymeric films.
Polyonics offers durable label materials to fit your application requirement. Our THERMOGARD™ and METALGARD™ label materials provide application solutions based on polyimide, polyester, polyethylene naphthalate and aluminum that can be used in "Under the hood" applications such as:
- Asset Tracking
- WIP Tracking
- Inventory Control
- Engine Block Labeling
- Track and trace for parts identification
Polyonics' thermal transfer printable coatings come in a wide variety of colors and finishes. Multiple durable acrylic or silicone adhesives are available depending on your temperature exposure and the surface to which the label will be applied.
