Polyonics’ Polyimide Labels Receive Approval on Compatibility Testing from Zestron America

WESTMORELAND, N.H. — June 1, 2005 — Polyonics Inc. announces that its XF-581 (1 mil) and XF-582 (2 mil) thermal transfer printable white polyimide label stocks were provided to Zestron America for compatibility tests with Zestron’s high precision cleaning agents: VIGON® water-based agents and ZESTRON® solvent-based agents.

Both polyimide label materials were tested before and after reflowing various printed circuit boards (PCB). In all cases, the print on the polyimide label remained clear with no visible effects.

Polyonics XF-581 and XF-582 are lead free polyimide label materials coated with a permanent pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive and a high opacity, medium gloss white topcoat specifically designed for thermal transfer printing. Barcode labels made from XF-581 and XF-582 polyimide label material demonstrate excellent performance in lead-free wave solder environments, which range from 260º to 290ºC.

XF-581 and XF-582 polyimide label materials are designed for barcode or alphanumeric identification of PCBs or related electronic components. They are the ideal labels to withstand mixed circuit board processes, on either the top or bottom side of the board. Additionally, the label materials have excellent resistance to harsh fluxes, cleaning agents, saponifiers and wave solder environments, and resist all commonly used methods of cleaning.

Zestron America is a leading global supplier of cleaning agents and processes. Zestron cleaning agents have been specifically designed to remove post-solder flux residues and SMT adhesives as well as misprinted solder pastes during and after the main PCB manufacturing processes.
