About XF-803...

Q:
This product is rated up to 600°C. Does this mean it will work forever at this temperature?
A:
Once again, time and temperature play a roll in product performance. Using the following Table II, you can see that as the temperature rises, the life expectancy of the adhesive shortens.

Table I indicates the time to cure (harden) the top coat and print combination of Metalgard™ product numbers XF-801 & XF-803 label & XT-660 tag materials using Polyonics PRC-33 ribbon. Table II outlines the amount of time at a given temperature that the adhesive will survive. Customers should always test in actual environment.

Now, let’s combine our examples above.
We said that the customer has a label application where the temperature will be raised to 300°C for one hour. We confirmed that the label will be fired to obtain durability and the adhesive will outlast the process requirements. This means we have a fit and potentially a great sales opportunity for XF-803.
