THERMOGARD Product Line Overview

The THERMOGARD™ pressure sensitive label products provide your customers with a spectrum of materials offering a variety of cost/benefit tradeoffs to solve their high temperature labeling requirements economically. All THERMOGARD™ pressure sensitive label products are thermal transfer printable. This overview highlights the main characteristics of a sampling of products. POLYESTER

XF-446 Static dissipative white, opaque top coat; Chemical and abrasion resistant; High PCS and first read rate; Withstand manufacturing processes; 2 mil film and 1 mil adhesive; High temperature polyester film; Withstand temperatures up to 400°F. Check for automatic print/apply.

XF-448 White, opaque topcoat; Chemical and abrasion resistant; High PCS and first read rate; Withstand manufacturing processes; 2 mil film and 5 mil adhesive; Withstand temperatures up to 300°F. Designed for greasy, dirty surfaces

XF-451 White, opaque topcoat; Chemical and abrasion resistant; High PCS and first read rate; Withstand manufacturing processes; 4 mil film and 5 mil adhesive; Withstand temperatures up to 300°F. Designed for porous metal castings, name and rating plates for auto and aerospace industries.

POLYMERIC/PEN

XF-540 White, opaque top coat; Chemical and abrasion resistant; High PCS and first read rate; Withstand manufacturing processes; 2 mil film and adhesive; PEN film; May be suitable for automatic print/apply, but extensive testing is MANDATORY; Withstand temperatures up to 450°F. Much better than normal PET polyester.

MODIFIED POLYIMIDE LABEL MATERIAL(PEI, or polyetherimide)

XF-558 White, opaque top coat; Chemical and abrasion resistant; High PCS and first read rate; Withstand manufacturing processes; 2 mil film and adhesive; Modified Polyimide (PEI) film; Stiff enough for automatic print/apply; Withstand temperatures up to 600°F. MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE than Kapton®.

1 Mil COLOR POLYIMIDE LABEL MATERIAL (Kapton®)

The chemical and thermal resistance of POLYONICS’ 1 mil colored polyimide products give the highest PCS and first read rates, and are abrasion and chemical resistant, and withstand temperatures up to 550°F (287°C). Acrylic adhesives are used unless otherwise noted. Lower cost than 2 mil Kapton® base film materials. May be used with “pick and place” application systems; not recommended for standard automatic print/apply. 

XF-500 (Semigloss) Thinner, color coded label for screening process and/or reduced costs. Not recommended for automatic print/apply due to thinner material. Designed for lead free applications; compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-503 (Semigloss) Thinner, color coded label for screening process and/or reduced costs. Not recommended for automatic print/apply due to thinner material. Designed for lead free applications; compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-504 (Semigloss) Thinner, color coded label for screening process and/or reduced costs. Not recommended for automatic print/apply due to thinner material. Designed for lead free applications; compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-505 (Semigloss) Thinner, color coded label for screening process and/or reduced costs. Not recommended for automatic print/apply due to thinner material. Designed for lead free applications; compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-506 (Semigloss) Thinner, color coded label for screening process and/or reduced costs. Not recommended for automatic print/apply due to thinner material. Designed for lead free applications; compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-508 (Semigloss) Thinner, color coded label for screening process and/or reduced costs. Not recommended for automatic print/apply due to thinner material. Designed for lead free applications; compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

1 MIL Base Polyimide Label film, coated with opaque, white topcoat: Thermal transfer printable

In all cases listed below, the chemical and thermal resistance of POLYONICS’ polyimide products give the highest PCS and first read rates, are abrasion and chemical resistant, and withstand temperatures up to 1,000°F (538°C). Acrylic adhesives are used unless otherwise noted. Lower cost than 2 mil Kapton® base film materials. May be used with “pick and place” application systems; not recommended for standard automatic print/apply. 

XF-561 (Semigloss) Same performance characteristics as above, but with added benefit of static dissipation<25-volts/sq. in. when peeled from release liner.

XF-581 (Semigloss) Thinner label for screening process and/or reduced costs. Not recommended for automatic print/apply due to thinner material. Designed for lead free applications; compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-583 (Matte) Thinner label for screening process and/or reduced costs. Not recommended for automatic print/apply due to thinner material. Designed for lead free applications; compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-781 (Semigloss) Thinner label for screening process and/or reduced costs. Not recommended for automatic print/apply due to thinner material. Static dissipative label stock; < 25 volts/sq. in. when peeled from the release liner.

XF-523 (Semigloss) Color coded; Designed for lead free applications; lower cost, compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-524 (Semigloss) Color coded; Designed for lead free applications; lower cost, compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-525 (Semigloss) Color coded; Designed for lead free applications; lower cost, compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-526 (Semigloss) Color coded; Designed for lead free applications; lower cost, compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-555, XF-557, XF-565 Most widely used 2 mil products.

XF-546 (Silicone adhesive). HIGHEST TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE AVAILABLE

XF-562 Static Dissipative. Surface resistivity 10^6 ohms; <25 volts/in when peeled from release liner

XF-582 (Semigloss) Designed for lead free applications; lower cost, compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-584 (Matte) Designed for lead free applications; lower cost, compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-587 (Semigloss) Designed for lead free applications; lower cost, compatable with a wide range of ribbons. Slighty more agressive adhesive than the XF-582.

XF-588 (Semigloss) Designed for lead free applications; lower cost, compatable with a wide range of ribbons. 2 mil material with 1 mil adhesive for applications where profile is an issue.

XF-589 (Semigloss) 2 mil silicone adhesive for long term temperature exposure; compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-592 (Semigloss) Agressive adhesive, designed for rough surfaces; compatable with a wide range of ribbons.

XF-782 (Semigloss) Designed for lead free applications; lower cost, compatable with a wide range of ribbons. Static dissipative label stock; < 25 volts/sq. in. when peeled from the release liner.

2 mil polyimiide label, base film, opaque non-white topcoat: Thermal transfer printable

In all cases listed below, the chemical and thermal resistance of POLYONICS’ polyimide products give the highest PCS and first read rates, are abrasion and chemical resistant, and withstand temperatures up to 1,000°F (538°C). Acrylic adhesives are used unless otherwise noted.

XF-541 Pale yellow, opaque coat; Color matches tan labels in use by many companies; Thermal transfer, Dot matrix impact, Laser (toner), and Ink jet printable.

XF-552 Yellow, opaque film; Color matched to laminated Kapton® labels.

 

Kapton® is DUPONT’S tradename for its polyimide film.

OPTIONS: Liner: 50# SCK paper; 55# Glassine; 1.5 mil PET for clean room applications; Silicone free release liners.

WARRANTY

POLYONICS’ products are sold with the understanding that the buyer will test them in actual use and determine for themselves their adaptability to their intended uses. POLYONICS warrants to the buyer that its products are free from defects in material and workmanship, but limits its obligation under this warranty to replacement of the product shown to POLYONICS’ satisfaction to have been defective, provided that the Buyer has complied with the handling, storage and shelf life requirements as specified by Polyonics in applicable materials specifications.

The above warranties extend solely to Buyer and all warranty claims must b e made by the Buyer. Rewqork or replacement shall neither extend nor decrease the original warranty period. The term of all warranty periods shall not exceed thirty (30) days from the deate of the original shipment.

THE ABOVE WARRANTIES ARE EXCLUSIVE OF AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, WRITTEN OR ORAL, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED STATUUORY OF OTHERWISE. NO IMPLIED STATUTORY WARRANTLY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE SHALL APPLY. POLYONICS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE EITHER IN TORT OR IN CONTRACT FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE, DIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL, ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE PRODUCT, OR FROM DELAY IN THE REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR OF PRODUCTS UNDER THE ABOVE WARRNANTY.
